PMRD Fellows Scheme ApplicationPMRD Fellows Scheme is an initiative of Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India (GoI) in collaboration with State Governments. The Fellowship has the twin objective of engaging young professionals to work with District Collectors in improving the development programmes as well as to build them as a cadre of development facilitators, who will be available as a ready resource for rural development activities over a long term.

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), as a partner of MoRD is requested to facilitate and anchor the selection and training of the PMRD Fellows.

Applications are sought through an open advertisement across the country. All candidates fulfilling the criteria shall appear for an online test scheduled on Sunday, 15th December 2013 from any of the 40 centres across the country. Those wishing to apply should fill an online form with an application processing fee of Rs. 750. Candidates from SC and ST categories with income below the level stipulated by the GoI are required to pay Rs. 250.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for selection as a PMRD Fellow shall be the following:

Essential criteria:

  • Age between 22-27 years at the time of application. For candidates belonging to SC/ST category, the maximum age limit will be 32 years.
  • At the minimum a graduate from a recognized university/institute with a four-year degree course, including those like Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Engineering, Law, Medicine etc., or a post-graduate from a recognized University/ Institute (in case of a graduate holding degree of a course duration of three years or less). Those with degree from universities outside India that are recognised by Association of Indian Universities can also apply. Only those candidates who have completed all requirements and received degree are eligible to apply.
  • At least 50% marks in the aggregate or equivalent grade at the graduate or Post-graduate level, whichever is qualifying.
  • Physical fitness, certified by Government Medical Hospital due to the arduous nature of work involved.

Desirable criteria:

  • Knowledge of local language and customs.
  • Work experience in related fields.
  • Excellence in extra-curricular activities like art, culture, sports etc. at High School/College level.
  • Leadership role in College/ High School/ Work Place.

Reservation:

  • 15% seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 15% for Scheduled Tribes.

 

Application Process

  • Candidates are not required submit mark sheets, degree certificates, reference letters and fitness certificate along with the application.
  • Only those candidates finally selected are required to submit mark sheets and degree certificates. The Selection Committee reserves the right to seek additional information from persons listed as references, employers, etc.
  • Fill the application and submit it online. The applicant will receive an acknowledgement of its receipt. All information asked for must be provided. Make sure to review the application for its completeness. Incomplete applications will be automatically rejected. Those giving wrong information in the online application form but get through AICAT will be rejected at the time of verification before final selection. Anyone found to have given wrong information and false certificates are liable for immediate dismissal and penal action at any stage of selection process or fellowship.

Three stage assessment process includes:

  • All India Competency Assessment Test (AICAT) (Online): 15th December 2013AICAT is an assessment of their understanding and orientation, and problem-solving abilities in a positive manner. Applicants will be shortlisted based on their performance in the AICAT.
  • Written Test (Issue based): 5th January 2014
  • Personal Interview: 5th & 6th of January 2014Shortlisted candidates will be tested using tools like essay writing & interview to ascertain their motivation, leadership, professional skills and pro-poor orientation.

Eligibility

General Eligibility

a) Candidates having a bachelor’s degree with minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent ( under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognized university are eligible to apply

b) Candidates who will be able to complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor’s Degree examinations by Saturday, June 14, 2014 are also eligible to apply to all the programmes except School of Health System Studies and School of Education(Elementary) programmes.

In case of (b), admission to any of the Master’s Degree Programmes of the Institute will be provisional. In case the examination process for the final year is not over before June 14, 2014, the provisional admission stands cancelled. If a provisionally admitted student fails in the final year examination, the offer of provisional admission automatically stands cancelled.

Selection Procedure

The selection of candidates for different programmes happens in two stages and has three components of assessment. All candidates appear for the common entrance test (TISS-NET). Based on the performance in the TISS-NET examination,  only short listed candidates are called for the Pre Interview Test and Personal Interview.(PIT/PI)

Merit List preparation

  1. The weightage for CET, PIT/GD and PI is as follows for the for the preparation of final merit lists for General as well as for Reserved Category candidates. CET – 50% ; PIT/GD – 20% ; PI – 30%.
  2. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of merit and the preferences indicated by the candidates at the time of filling up the online application form
  3. In case of a tie between two candidates, their PI marks will be compared and the one with more marks in PI will be considered, in case there is a  tie in PI marks too their PIT marks will be compared and  the one with more marks in PIT will be considered, in case there is a tie in PIT marks too then the Entrance test marks will be compared and the one with more marks in entrance test will be considered, in case there is a tie in Entrance marks too then the candidate higher in age will be given the seat.

Based on the merit list for each programme, the list of selected candidates will be put up on the website. Each candidate will also receive his/her score card indicating the marks for each component of the examination process.

List of Selected Candidates  and  list of wait-listed candidates will be displayed on the TISS admission website.

Rules for preparation of the wait-list

  1. Candidates who get admission to the programme of their first preference will not be on wait-lists for any other programme mentioned in their list of  preferences.
  2. Candidates who get admission into any programme which is their second preference, will only be retained in the wait list of the first preference. Candidates who get admission into any programme which is their third preference, will be retained in the wait list of their first and second preference
  3. Candidates, who receive an admission in a programme lower in their order of preferences, will be retained in the wait-list of a preference higher in the order, till the seats in that programme are filled.
  4. In case, the candidates qualifies in two programmes at the same time, when the wait list is activated, the higher preference will prevail. The Institute will offer admission only to the higher preference.
  5. When a candidate who has already taken admission in a programme as per the first merit list is subsequently offered the higher preference when the wait list is activated, he/she will be moved into the programme of higher preference and will be informed.

TISS-NET PG Courses 2014-16

TISS-NET: How to Apply

Candidates are required to apply online through the E-application process only, please read through this page before filling in the application form. Click here to visit the online application system. Candidates facing technical problems while filling in the application form may call 09717182698 or   09717182594 (Monday to Saturday – Timing 9:30 am to 6:30 pm).

However, candidates from remote places where no Internet and Telecommunication facilities are available can get a printed copy of the application form from the Institute. Please send request for printed form by Speed Post with application fees to Assistant Registrar(Academic), Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Deonar Mumbai, 400088. Please note that candidates applying through the E-application form should not send the application form by post.

TISS-NET: General Instructions about applying

  1. Candidates  can  apply  for a  maximum  of  three  programmes across any  two of the TISS Campuses.
  2. Candidates are requested to read through the eligibility criteria mentioned here before filling up the form.
  3. Unemployed SC and ST candidates, whose parent’s/guardian’s annual  income for the financial  year 2012-13 is less than Rs. 2.5 Lakh, and unemployed OBC(NC) whose parent’s/guardian’s annual income for the financial year 2012-13 is less than Rs 1 lakh, are exempted from paying the Application Fee.However they should upload the necessary certificates (Ref Reservation Section on the admission website)
  4. Candidates have to upload/ attach relevant certificates strictly in the format mentioned here. Please refer to the section ‘Certificates/ Documents’ below
  5. The application fees is Rs 1020 (if being paid by Credit card/ Debit card/ Net Banking) or Rs 1000 + bank charges (if being paid through bank by cash). Candidate has to pay this amount for every programme he applies for. For more details refer to the section ‘Application fee payment’ below.
  6. A candidate can apply for multiple programmes and pay for those programmes in one online form and should not fill more than one form. If a candidate is found to have filled more than one online form, all his applications will be cancelled.

Notes: 

(i) In case of payment by cash deposit in an SBI branch, please note that the SBI will charge Rs. 50/- as their processing fee for each deposit, which cannot be adjusted against the application fee.

(ii)  Payments made via demand draft, pay order or any mode other than the above modes is not acceptable and the application will be rejected. No communication to this effect will be sent to such candidates.

(iii) Candidates applying online will be asked to choose between two modes of payment ‘Cash’ or ‘Pyment Gateway’ in the online application form. If the preferred mode of payment is ‘Cash’, a payment challan has to be downloaded from the ‘Download Challan’ tab. The payment challan will have. Deposit the cash amount mentioned on the challan in any branch of State Bank Of India. The bank will return two copies of the challan copy (Student Copy and TISS Copy) with the banks seal, signature and journal number on it. Candidates have to then scan the ‘TISS Copy’ of the challan, login back to the online application system and upload it.

TISS-NET PG Courses 2014-16TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) has announced the Admission to the 2014-16 batch for it’s Full-Time (Regular) Post-Graduate Degree Programmes (M.A., M. Sc., M.H.A., M.P.H.) offered from Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad campuses.

Computer based National Entrance test (TISS-NET) will be held on December 15, 2013, in 35 centres located in different parts of the country. The computer based test is of objective type and even those with a rudimentary knowledge of working with a computer can take the test.

TISS-NET  - How to Apply

Candidates have to apply through the online application form only. Following are the steps involved in filling up the form:

  1. The candidate has to register with an emailid. The candidate will be sent a password which is to be used to login and fill the online form.
  2. After login candidates have to fill in their basic details, academic details and have to mention the programmes they wish to apply for in the order of preference.
  3. Pay the application fee (depending on number of programmes applied) either by depositing cash in any branch of SBI or through Credit card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking and
  4. Scan and upload photograph, signature, marksheet of last exam passed and other necessary certificates.

Candidates having lack of access to internet services (remote area) can write to Mumbai campus for printed application form. They have to the application form and submit before last date of submission.

Note: Candidate can apply for multiple programmes and pay for all the programmes in one online form and should not fill more than one online form. If a candidate is found to have filled more than one form, all his applications will be cancelled.

TISS-NET : National Entrance Test

National Entrance Test (TISS-NET)  is computer based. It will be held on December 15, 2013 from 11 am to 12.40 am in 35 centres (below mentioned) in different parts of the country.

Admit Card

The Admit Card will generally be sent in the fourth week of November 2013, by e-mail to the candidate. Those candidates who have not received their admit card by December 1, 2013, may register their complaint by sending a mail to pgadmission@tiss.edu. For such candidates a duplicate admit card will be sent a day prior to the entrance test to his/her respective centre. No duplicate admit card will be issued on the day of the National Entrance Test.

Pre Admission Orientation

Every year the pre-admission orientation is organised by the Social Protection Office(SPO) for all SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Minority candidates who have qualified to appear for the National Entrance Test of the Institute. The objectives of this programme is to orient candidates from these categories to the whole process of the entrance test, various aspects of computer based test, group discussion/pre-interview test and personal interview. All the above category candidates are oriented to the facilities and entitlements. This orientation is a unique effort of the TISS to build confidence among SC,ST, OBC(NC), PWD and Minority candidates.

Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC(NC), PWD and minority communities are eligible to attend the two -day orientation programme to be held on November 15-16, 2013 in Mumbai, Guwahati and on November 16-17, 2013 at Delhi and on November 29-30, 2013 at Hyderabad. Candidates from these categories must choose the place nearest to their residence and indicate the centre for orientation programme in their application form. An invitation letter by email from the Office of Dean, Social Protection Office will reach them 2 weeks prior to the date of orientation programme.

Travelling Allowance (TA) is paid to eligible* candidates (SC/ST/OBC(NC) for attending the Pre-Admission Orientation Programme at the Centre. The candidates are required to submit the TA form along with onward (Original) and return journey tickets(photo copy), Caste/Tribe/OBC(NC) certificate and Income Certificate for preceding year issued by a competent authority.

(*Criteria for Eligibility: Unemployed SC/ST and OBC(NC) candidates whose parent’s / guardian’s income is below Rs. 2.5 lakhs and Rs. 1 lakh respectively for the Financial Year 2012-13. Other SC/ST/OBC candidiates will not be entitled for TA.).
